Journey to Perfection – a review
The journey to perfection is one that we will all have to travel sooner or later. For many of us the decision to take the first step has been prompted by being caught up in one the many ills that beset the world. To us John Riley’s book offers hope and encouragement by showing that we can all stand up to these difficulties by transforming ourselves, our communities, our nations and our one humanity. By our own personal growth and development he describes how we might develop the wherewithal to go out and engage with the world and transform it. The book is an easy read and introduces many important concepts that the spiritual traveller will assimilate along the way.
It is not always recognised that spiritual development is a very natural process of evolution, one that works at all levels. Indeed, it can be readily observed that many of the world’s problems today arise from denial of this continuous but unstoppable change. You do not have to look very far to find those intent on trying to hold back the clock with ever more extreme and violent measures. But nor do you have to look far to find a new dawn of spiritual awakening lighting up the globe with a diversity that is truly astounding. By way of example John Riley introduces the reader to a rich and varied selection of thought and concepts.
Not all of these topics will be of interest to the reader, and it would be very surprising if they were. As the book points out, we must all take our own individual paths. Some ideas will resonate with us; others will not. It is by judicious use of our discrimination that we need only pick the ones that suit.
No book can make the journey for the reader but this one will encourage those still searching to take the next step and, perhaps more importantly, put into practice at the worldly level the lessons learned.
